ARUP

ARUP IN BEIJING

Arup has played a major role in helping shape Beijing’s modern landscape. This is evident not only in the stunning sporting structures, but also in the work Arup has done planning Beijing’s road and rail network, in promoting sustainable and energy-efficienct practices and in the design of landmark buildings.

With a presence in Hong Kong for over 30 years, Arup worked on its first Chinese project in 1984. The firm's multi-disciplinary practice of designers, engineers, planners and business consultants, is closely linked to the striking transformation taking place in Beijing today. Almost a quarter of Arup’s 10,000 staff work in China, and – given it is one of the only global design firms operating in the country today – its influence on China’s development is significant.
